Week 6: artist interview: Alanna Marcelletti

this woman is an amazing artist and made pieces of art so creative I have never before seen anything like it! She takes a canvas and makes a frame out of it and covers the box-like frame with a sheer fabric found in curtains and formal dresses. She wanted to use these to incorporate a domestic home-like and maternal feel to her art. She said that in some of her pieces she actually used part of a wedding dress!  Her art is also a mixture of arts and crafts and she loves painting and sculpture. One of the pieces was in the corner that caught my eye. It’s of the two flowers in each frame, and the canvas looked like the opening of a book. She explained how one side was a flower that resembled purity but the other represented all the dark sides and the fact that they are on the other side of each other represented how they both merge together. She kind of has an idea of what her next piece was going to be but then something new will come out of it and a lot of the times there are symbols in her art of something that may have happened to her that week and most of the art has to do with what she has experienced but she is sure once her baby girl is born there will be a lot more symbols that may represent something about her. The average amount of time for each piece takes about a month. I loved her artwork and she has inspired me to be more creative with my art and to not just use colors but to think outside the box and try to add textures.

Here are some pictures of her lovely work:
