Week 8: Artist Interview: Brian Davis`

I’m sooo glad I got to experience this awesome juicing experience!  Right when I walked into the gallery, I noticed an entire long table stocked up with beautiful, bright fruits and vegetables and two juicing machines.  Also, the whole “feel” to the gallery was completely changed to seem more “home-y” as there were couches and a TV, rugs, and something that looked almost like a fireplace.  So Brian owns those two juicing machines, one is worth $400 and the other one is worth $500!!  However, they last a really long time and they did a damn good job and pressing the fruits and vegetables AND the juice came out cold.  He explained how the rotations per minute is what causes air and thus friction and thus again heat to the juice, this takes away some of the nutrients.  He also made his own cool looking cups that were made from pottery and had designs on them.  I tried the carrot juice, it was awesome, then I wanted to try his favorite drink (which was so many different ingredients but mainly ginger, melon, carrots, and strawberries) and it was phenomenal!  I really wanted to come back for more if I did not have class all day.  He gets his produce from H Mart because after he came back from South Korea, he found the importance of natural and organic foods.  He also wanted to give nutrients to people to help boost them and make them feel better, which was the main reason he was juicing on campus today, to help out his fellow students!  He wants to be at art hostels and just juice for people, mainly in Greece until they had a bad turn in their economy.  So now he is thinking about Maui and Italy but he IS moving to Italy April 2nd, right outside of Sienna.  He is going to have a blast and I think it’s awesome what his dreams are and think it’s even more awesome that he’s following them.
